ParticipantHere are a few helpful tips and suggestions from some of our most successful Math-A-Thon coordinators:

  • Hold a school assembly and introduce the Math-A-Thon program to your students.
  • Show the Math-A-Thon DVDs to get the students excited.
  • Have a competition between classes, grades or rooms and include all grades in the program.
  • Issue a challenge to students to raise a certain amount. If achieved, have the principle or well-known teacher do something such as shave their beard, wear a funny costume, etc.
  • Have a party and awards ceremony for all participants at the end of the program and distribute prizes.
  • Get a feel for the event and educate yourself about the hospital.
  • Decorate bulletin boards with St. Jude and Math-A-Thon information.
  • Recruit local business to donate gift certificates or prizes, etc., for students that turn in the most money and the class that raises the most money.
